about

Watt Road got started, like the rest of the prospects for the Make Stuff Up album, in February of 2021. Then It got acousti-cized and grew more lyrics and a chorus during production in December of that year. Hope you like bluegrass...with no banjo or fiddle...

This one's all about that feeling you get when you're driving along a highway at night, get lost in thought and suddenly snap to and wonder where the hell you are.

lyrics

It was late one night and I was driving home
From a band practice all alone
I knew exactly where I was going
Well I was half way there or so I guess
When I became the victim of duress
I looked around, did not know where the hell I was
So I think back to when I last remember where the hell I was
What is the way to this band practice and back anyway?
I recall getting on 275 so that must be where the hell I am
But I could also be on 40 or Alcoa Highway
So I guess I have to wait until the next sign and just
Hope I didn't go so far from where I belong
That it makes no sense whatsoever
Then I start to thinking ';bout other stuff
Like the reasons why I forget things
Next thing you know the sign's gone by, oh no

What road am I on? What road am I on?
What road am I on, anyway?
What road am I on? What road am I on, anyway?

What if I went north instead of Southbound?
I might be in Kentucky if I did
And if that were true and I just kept on drivin'
I might be in Ohio, God forbid

I'm always sober when I drive
That night I was not even high
I always try to be extra cautious
But driving's like a drug to me
It lets me think and I feel free
Then another exit sails by and I get nauseous
Still and all I can't complain
I always get home just the same
I just hope I'm still in Tennessee
So I keep it mellow, arrow straight
'Tween the mustard and the mayonnaise
I know it's just a minor tragedy

What road am I on? What road am I on?
What road am I on, anyway?
What road am I on? What road am I on?
What road am I on, anyway?
What road am I on? What road am I on?
What road am I on, anyway?
